Technology is widely cutting across all facets of the global economy such that even the most ordinary accessories such as clothing are becoming instruments of technological advancements. Just a while ago, Google renewed its partnership with Levi Strauss – An American Clothing Company, to launch an upgraded version of the Jacquard jacket which is tech-enabled.

The denim jacket is embedded with a small tab-like chip on the sleeve that permits Users to remotely access their smartphone devices right on the go, just in semblances to a touchpad. Additionally, this neoteric invention accessorizes the denim jacket with features that allows the wearer to answer calls, control your music, and get directions just by hand gestures such as swiping, touching and tapping the jacket cuff.

The San Francisco-based clothing line announced on Monday that it would be teaming up with Google to incorporate the ‘Jacquard tag’ technology in its latest denim designs. Publishing that the Trucker and Sherpa Trucker Jackets for both men and women would roll out with the integrated ‘Jacquard Tag’ on Thursday, 3rd October, in some select few Levi stores in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and US at a cost price of $198 for the classic Trucker and $248 for the Sherpa Trucker Jacker.

Even though this is not the first time Google is teaming up with a Clothing line company to distribute a smart accessory as it partnered with Yves Saint Laurent to produce a smart backpack sometime in 2016. More so the Multinational Technology Company had earlier partnered with the Levi in 2017 to debut the first-ever smart jacket.

However, this latest innovation is only an enhanced model that fraughts with a smaller tag that can hardly be detected. In accordance to a press release by Paul Dillinger – The Vice President of Global Product Innovation at Levi, this new technology allows users to stay connected to their Smartphones at all point in time, stating that;

“Two years after we first launched Jacquard, the technology has become smaller and more discrete, more affordable and more useful, But the premise and purpose remain the same: You can keep your phone in your pocket and your eyes on the world around you, staying connected without being distracted.”

This research development was part of Google’s ATAP (Advanced Technology And Projects) that provisions designers the required tools to create highly connected products. With features such as getting a notification alert whenever your phone gets separated from your jacket, by means of such gestures as tapping the jacket to take photos on your phone’s camera, tagging where your car was parked and a lot more. Google further anticipates adding more functionality to the ‘Jacquard Jacket’ to make it even more ‘smarter’ in the near future.

Intel’s 10th Generation Processors: A Hard Pick From a Buyer’s Point of View

Since the debut of Intel’s next-generation 10nm (ten-nanometer) processors in 2018. The Silicon-valley headquartered technology corporation has launched a few different kinds with very similar features.

Subsequently, making it difficult for customers to select from an array of multiple choices. Following another publication in Q2 2019, the semiconductor manufacturing company announced that it would be launching a new breed of the 10th generation series. In addition to the already existing.

Notably, the core of these latest processors is integrated with an underlying AI technology to provide an advanced CPU & GPU functionality. Just as stated on the company’s website as follows;

“The many advantages of 10th Gen Intel® Core™ mobile processors are here — built-in AI, integrated Thunderbolt™ 3 technology and Intel® Wi-Fi 6, 4K HDR, and more. Featuring new CPU and GPU architectures produced on Intel’s advanced 10nm process.”

The 10th Generation Processors

The ‘Cannon Lake’ brand was the first in the lineup of smaller and faster processor chips. Trailing afterward was the launch of almost a dozen 10th generation ‘Ice lake’ processors earlier this month. That was built upon the 10nm manufacturing process. Furthermore, the announcement of the upcoming ‘Comet Lake’ sequel on Wednesday.

Having that the release date of the full version of ‘Comet Lake’ is slated for 2020. The ‘Comet Lake comprises of the U-Series mobile processors; Core i7-10710U, Core i7-10510U, Core i5-10210U, and Core i3-10110U. Together with the Y-Series line; Core i7-10510Y, Core i5-10310Y, Core i5-10210Y, and Core i3-10110Y.

These additional Intel Core processors for laptops are designed on both the 10nm and 14nm architecture. Hence, granting an average Customer with a long list of options to scroll through before making the perfect pick.

Although the inventory published in the month of August consists of nineteen identical Core processors. Yet each model ships with its distinct feature. Another major thing to note about these 10nm and the 14nm processor architecture is that both are running on the ‘Nanometer Technology’.

Nonetheless, the number one chipmakers are well on their way to making a statement in the technological space. With regards to the addition of the ‘Ice Lake’ earlier this month alongside the ‘Comet Lake’. Intel intends to create a complete family of highly fast and tiny chips that could service any and every customer. This was however confirmed by the company. Highlighting on the main reason for this move, adding that it has resulted to;

“A complete family of processors that complement each other, giving people choices for what usages matter most to them and re-imagining the possibilities of a modern laptop experience.”

Identification for Development Principles

— According to the Worldbank Identification for development scheme. A global effort is set in place to develop a set of shared Principles that are fundamental to maximizing the benefits of identification systems. In order to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG) come 2030.

The ten-rule principle is centered around a robust and responsive solution with the ability to appeal to a wide variety of Users. One that can protect User rights while covering a universal outreach. These rules are slated with the mindset of creating a secure, inclusive as well as a trustworthy identification system. Specifically to enhance and empower individuals towards their access to rights, services, and formal economy.

As technology continues to enjoy more mainstream adoption, the development benefit increases exponentially. With respect to the successful development of a fully secured identification system. These principles would be subject to future amendments as lessons emerge from implementation. Having that, the confederation has agreed to incorporate new ideas into these principles. Thereby establishing global cooperation to provide legal identity for all.

What is a Digital Identification System?

In modern-day terms, Digital identity refers to a set of attributes that uniquely identifies an online entity. This entity/agent has been an individual, business, application or a device. That generates such sensitive data including but not limited to personal details, online search activities, business meta-data, social security and transaction records.

Similarly, Jonathan Donner describes Digital identification as;

“The recording of certain attributes — biodata, biometrics, claims — in a formal record, a “credential,” that grants specific rights or permissions to the individual. Identification is a concept we care about because it is that process that grants access and rights.”

Just the same, Wikipedia verifies this definition, adding that;

“The information contained in a digital identity allows for assessment and authentication of a user interacting with a business system on the web, without the involvement of human operators. Digital identities allow our access to computers and the services they provide to be automated, and make it possible for computers to mediate relationships.”

Hence increasing the events of a third-party hack!!!

The Worldbank Initiative

Worldbank currently fosters this ‘Principle of Identification’ by means of a consortium comprising of a handful of diverse organizations. Through a regulatory framework, this ‘Principles of Identification’ initiative underway, proffers a method for entities to not only prove their identity. But also protects these end-users against data pilfering while interacting with the world wide web. By creating a unique ID for each individual, it becomes easy to track their participation in societal and economic development. While granting these entities the ability to exercise the range of human rights set out in international laws and conventions.

The major driving force behind the Worldbank initiative is target 16:9 of the UN’s SDG. This principles explicitly specifies the need to grow, verifying this in its opening statements as follows;

“Universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.”

Other occurrences as the Cloudflare Outage that could have put in jeopardy, billions of Customer records. Highlights the need for a highly secured identification system. Because, just as building a standardized identification system —particularly digital ones— creates opportunities to further development goals, it’s also fraught with new risks and challenges.
